General Utilities

General Software Utilities

In our Vision it says: ’We develop and deliver a range of world class innovative GNSS products focused on unique industrial applications which are typically not addressed by the mass consumer electronic market. Productivity, efficiency and improved environmental outcomes for our customers are the primary motivators for our continuous Research and Development activities.’

As part of GPSat’s continual effort to implement that vision, empower our customer and provide a total customer support experience we have developed our ‘Software Utilities’.
At no cost to the customer, these utilities are to help developers both diagnose and experiment with innovative techniques with minimal effort. Each of these tools, across all of the different sectors are basically a spin off of our in-house development work for our GEMS Project. This allows our customers to explore internal features of products we sell and potential future applications within their own trade space. We have software for OEM binary decoders, message counters and interpreters, Novatel Superstar tools that decodes, post process software for the Super Star range of receivers, Spirent and VMS applications including PC and Com Port general utilities. If you have any feedback on these products please contact us.

SocketTerm

SocketTerm

SocketTerm is an internet communications program for use with applications that require Terminal functionality. It can be used for reading any input from a socket/server connection to verify certain characteristics of an incoming stream of data (most likely from a remote GPS receiver) or to store the incoming data to a data file for later review.
Features: Split windows (Transmit & Recieve); QuickKeys feature; Log to File ability.

Current Version: 1.1

SerialServer

SerialServer

SerialServer is designed to be used in conjunction with SocketTerminal. It is run on a computer with a Novatel receiver and it will forward all data from the reciever to all the connected SocketTerminal clients, and forwards all data sent from the clients to the reciever (connected via a serial port).
Features: Port and baud rate selection; Rx and Tx status indicators; Number of clients display; Error message output.

Current Version: 1.0

ComTerm

ComTerm

ComTerm is a serial communication program, not unlike the Windows standard program, Hyperterminal. ComTerm is intended for (but certainly not restricted to) use with GPS receivers connected to any serial communication port on the computer.
Features: Split windows (Transmit & Recieve); Serial line status lights (Rx, Tx, CTS, DSR, DCD); QuickKeys feature; Log to File ability.

*NEW* ComTerm has scripting functionality to automate nearly any process!!!

Time Converter is a simple program to convert GPS time to Local time or Local time to GPS time.
Features: Simple interface; Allows for UTC Offset.

Current Version: 1.4

SatelliteVisibility

SatelliteVisibility

Satellite Visibility is a convenient utility for use with NovAtel almanac files. It takes that file and your current position, then the program plots either satellite position, number of satellites vs time of day, or PDOP vs time of day.
Features: Local time input (including UTC offset); Antenna position input; Use of satellite bad health flag; Intuitive click-and-drag graphs.

Current Version: 1.4

Position Convert is a simple program to convert GPS coordinates between ECEF, UTM and Geodedic.
Features: Simple interface; Multiple measurement units

Current Version: 1.1.0

Comsplit

Comsplit

ComSplit is a simple program designed to "split" (duplicate) a serial communication signal for use with multiple devices. It takes input from one device attached to a computer, and can send this data out to as many as 8 additional serial devices also attached to the computer's COM ports.
Features: Straightforward interface; Lists bytes transferred; Any port up to COM15 can be selected.

L1Fix

L1Fix

L1Fix is a processing engine for single frequency carrier phase measurements made with Novatel's Superstar II receivers.
L1Fix computes the relative coordinates (the "baseline") between a fixed base receiver at a known location and a Rover receiver at an unknown location.
L1Fix is based on the process of resolving carrier phase ambiguities by using double-difference measurements.
L1Fix is aimed to provide a low-cost and yet accurate solution for baseline computation, based on single-frequency GPS receivers.

Installation:
The self-extrating archive that you downloaded installs all necessary files in the specified folder.
The Executable "L1Fix.exe", and this help file "L1FixHelp.hlp", need to be in the same folder.
Otherwise there are no other installation steps required to start using L1Fix.

Required Inputs:
In order to run L1Fix you need the following:

  1. Two data files collected with Novatel Superstar II receivers.
  2. One data file shall be collected from a receiver at a precisely known location (the "Base" receiver).
  3. One data file shall be collected from a receiver at an unknown location (the "Rover" receiver).
  4. Each data file shall contain the Superstar messages 21 (navigation data), 22 (ephemeris) and 23 (code/carrier phase measurements).
  5. The data from both receivers shall be collected at the time and shall have at least 20 minutes of common epochs. If less than 20 minutes of common data is available, L1Fix may not be able to output a correct baseline.
